This article builds upon John Steiner's concept of "Psychic retreats". The author first articulates a patient's subjective experience of psychic retreats, conceptualizing three structural dimensions: "from object to subject", "from reality to subjectivity", "from emotions to feelings''. Subsequently, the paper proposes the awareness perspective as a methodological framework for navigating intense psychic retreats while exploring personality subjectivity within analytic work. At the deepest stratum of psychic space—where retreat becomes untenable—the author identifies libido objectives: a novel reformulation of drive theory that integrates directional intensity with Bion's vector-O. The discussion then critiques the limitations of contemporary interpersonal analytic approaches, advocating instead for therapeutic engagement at the patient's internal relation level. This paradigm aims directly at facilitating Bionian O-transformation through the creation of an Internal Edenic therapeutic environment—a pre-cathectic space for primordial existence and projection, where therapists adopt a triadic technique of suspended awareness, non-intrusive tracing, and internal metabolizing to catalyze endogenous self-integration. The theoretical framework is grounded in the author's first-person clinical case study with comparative analysis of modern analytic perspectives, uniquely originating from the patient's epistemic position.
