Abstract

This paper introduces a flexible coding approach for sending intra- and inter-stimulus triggers inPsychoPy, including cases where the trigger pattern are stimulus-dependent. Many experimentaldesigns require more complex event-coding than typical experimental software interfaces can provide, particularly when different triggers must be sent at specific points during a single stimulus or whentrigger values depend on stimulus attributes. This pre-print presents clear, reproducible Pythoncode that will enable researchers to define multiple trigger timings, adapt trigger logic dynamically, and integrate these features into workflows with minimal modification. This resource is intended forresearchers who need precise and structured event-coding for EEG and other trigger-based recordingsystems, and who want a transparent, modifiable solution for implementing complex intra-stimulustrigger logic in experimental software like PsychoPy.
