Abstract

Statements from two pages of the website of the German Aviation Association (Bundesverband der Deutschen Luftverkehrswirtschaft, BDL) are analyzed for their truthfulness (as of June 15, 2020). Seven statements are found that can be classified as false and/or have significant potential to misinform airline passengers. If passengers decide to travel by air with relative ease based on the BDL's statements and then become infected with SARS-CoV-2 on board, this could have repercussions for the BDL on various levels and damage the image of the entire industry. False statements should be avoided in the interests of business ethics.
