With the global advancement of digitalization, we live in an environment filled with networkconnected objects, ranging from computers and smartphones to televisions and even household appliances like dishwashers. All these devices form what is known as the Internet of Things, IoT. Each one presents a series of vulnerabilities that can be exploited in order to use these technologies improperly. The idea behind this work is to establish a reference framework for the implementation of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) protocols, with the goal of, using quantum computing simulations, enabling encrypted communications between devices of the IoT. We will focus, above all, on implementing these protocols in low-computational-power devices, such as household appliances or simpler gadgets like smart sockets. The effectiveness of the protocols will be tested by executing network attacks, aiming todetect potential vulnerabilities or weeknessess in the execution of these security algorithms.
