Fang and Casadevall, both distinguished professors in the field of biomedical sciences and affiliated with prestigious higher education institutions, offer university instructors and graduates a textbook-like volume that attempts to clarify and restore the value of science for society. The volume consists of five main sections: I-Definitions of Science, II-Good Science, III-Bad Science, IV-Future of Science, and V-Afterword. The volume approaches current discussions of the nature and practice of science, i.e. the ‘scientific enterprise’, focusing on examples from biomedical research that reflect the authors’ own academic credentials and experience.
