Abstract

The United States operates within a demanding global landscape wherein maintainingtechnological leadership, ensuring long-term economic prosperity, and strengthening nationalsecurity are key strategic objectives. Convened May 16-17, 2024, at Stanford University, theStanford-SLAC Extreme Energy Workshop brought together over 100 experts in academia,national laboratories, industry, and the finance and policy sectors. The Workshop was orientedto analyze the current state of advanced energy systems that are considered vital for economicprosperity, national security, technological leadership, and responsible environmentalstewardship, as well as to identify critical challenges and chart pathways for acceleration. Specific recommendations for key stakeholders are detailed in the Strategic Imperatives section.
