This study investigates the approaches and attitudes of academic librarians on artificial intelligence (AI) literacy. This paper contributes to the evolving scholarly conversation of AI's impact on higher education and academic libraries. The purpose of this research is to gauge how AI literacy is being integrated into library instruction and information literacy lessons in academic libraries across the United States. A survey was developed to collect quantitative and qualitative data on academic librarians’ comfort levels, motivations, and collaborative efforts in AI literacy instruction. Findings demonstrate the types of modalities for teaching AI literacy, the topics covered in AI literacy instruction sessions, and ties to the ACRL Framework. The study contributes valuable insights for future exploration and the development of AI literacy instruction resources and frameworks.
