Abstract

This study critically examines the Sexual Offences Act No. 3 of 2006 in Kenya, focusing on its legislative intent, judicial application, and social impact on youth and wider society. Using a doctrinal research approach, the work analyzes statutory provisions alongside case law to assess how effectively the Act addresses sexual violence, exploitation, and protection of vulnerable groups. The research also incorporates socio-legal perspectives, drawing on secondary data and community narratives to evaluate awareness, enforcement challenges, and the broader cultural implications of the law. Findings suggest that while the Act has strengthened legal protections and accountability mechanisms, gaps remain in implementation, particularly in relation to youth education, stigma, and institutional capacity. The study concludes that meaningful impact requires not only robust legislation but also sustained public engagement, judicial sensitivity, and policy support to ensure the Act contributes to safeguarding dignity and advancing social justice in Kenya.
