Abstract

In this work titled "A Critical Analysis of the European Union's Considerations on the Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence in Education," the ethical guidelines for the use of AI in education, developed under the European Commission’s Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027, are examined. The document presents six guidelines for educational agents and emphasizes the need for adaptive learning, the responsible use of AI in assessment, and the importance of transparency, fairness, and privacy in data management. Key ethical principles are highlighted, including human agency, transparency, inclusion, data privacy and governance, technical robustness and safety, and accountability. The critical analysis points to the challenges and digital gaps in Latin America and underscores the need for collaborative efforts to implement AI in an inclusive and ethical way in education, ensuring that existing inequalities are not exacerbated and that human agency is preserved in the educational process.
