Abstract

This chapter develops the hypothesis that the use of the Mayan language in indigenous communities in Yucatán, Mexico, may have a significant effect on mental health. Based on previous studies, research questions are developed and a strategy is outlined to measure the relationship between suicidal ideation and Mayan language use.
