Abstract

Global antitrust enforcement is intensifying as multinational mergers proliferate. This paperexamines evolving merger control regimes (U.S., EU, India, COMESA, etc.) and landmarkcases, focusing on competition law challenges and consumer protection in developingeconomies. We analyze how frameworks like the U.S. Sherman Act, the EU Merger Regulation,India’s Competition Act, and regional rules govern cross-border transactions. Notable deals(e.g., Dow/DuPont, Illumina/GRAIL) highlight jurisdictional conflicts and remedy design.Cooperation is growing, but capacity and resource gaps remain in poorer jurisdictions. Weidentify regulatory adaptations and stress the need for global coordination to align merger policyand protect consumers worldwide.
