Abstract

We report a case of natural reversal of adult myopia from six to zero dioptres after five months of a behavioral procedure based solely on small myopic defocus and consciously triggered accommodation. We speculate that the mechanism involves afferent learning signals from the ciliary body, retina, and visual cortex, that drive emmetropization via eye axial shortening and crystalline lens refractive index redistribution. This procedure has the promise of affording a natural alternative to the current conventional treatments of myopia prevention and correction.
