Abstract

Modern geriatric medicine increasingly extends beyond treating disease to supporting individuals through recovery, adaptation, and long-term functioning, all central to the concept of resilience. Despite growing interest, resilience remains inconsistently defined and applied across disciplines, limiting its potential to inform clinical care and guide research. As a solution, we present a generic resilience framework for geriatric medicine that can flexibly accommodate different stressors, resources, and outcomes. We illustrate its relevance through examples that highlight how resilience principles can inform clinical decision-making and patient care for older adults.
