The Perth Emotional Reactivity Scale (PERS) is developed to assess emotional reactivity, containing composites of emotional activation, intensity and duration, which is of high clinical importance. We developed Chinese version of PERS and evaluated its psychometric properties in local Chinese samples (N = 870). Confirmatory factor analysis supported the 6-factor higher level model, which differently assess activation, intensity, duration on positive and negative valances, with all items loaded strongly on its corresponding sub-scale. Replication in correlation with measurement of psychopathology and emotion regulation difficulty scales supported the validity of the Chinese version PERS. Testing of measurement invariance supported its consistency in meaning across time and gender. Overall, the Chinese version of PERS showed good psychometric performance, similar to the original English version, confirming its utility in measuring emotional reactivity within the Chinese population.
