“Masculine Sexual Entitlement“ (MSEN) is defined as “personal and collective attitudes, norms, and behaviors involving an exaggerated belief in masculine individuals’ right to ordeservingness of sex and upholding or reinforcing patterns that contribute to these dynamics”.The present study translated the 25-item Masculine Sexual Entitlement Norms Scale(MSEN25) from English to German. Exploratory structural equation modeling (ESEM) wasemployed for the purpose of analyzing the underlying factor structure and obtaining fitindices. Internal consistency was assessed as well as convergent correlations with theHostility Towards Women Scale (HTW), the Sexual Narcissism Scale (SNS), and theConformity to Masculine Norms Inventory (CMNI). The Interpersonal Sexual ObjectificationScale (ISOS-P) was used to assess predictive validity of the MSEN25 with regard to sexualcoercive behavior. The German version exhibited a five-factor structure closely aligned withthat of the original English version, supported by robust fit indices., but several factorloadings differed from the original version making a different item classification to thesubscales necessary. Internal consistency was high. The MSEN25 added incremental value tothe prediction of HTW beyond the SNS, and to the prediction of interpersonal sexualobjectification. The validated German version of the MSEN25 now provides a reliableinstrument for measuring Masculine Sexual Entitlement in German-speaking populations.
