Abstract

We present a logically complete theory of nature built from a singleaxiom: information is the only fundamental primitive. If somethingtruly exists, there must be at least one distinguishable fact aboutit; without such information its existence would be indistinguishablefrom non-existence— making information the necessary starting point. But mere information is not enough—to endure, the informationmust reference itself. Without global self-reference, two observerscould compress the same motif into mutually inconsistent states, shatteringphysical coherence. The minimal self-consistent act of referenceis a three-node cycle (A→B→C→A). That loop is the first piece ofinformation—“the bit that asserts itself” (or, equivalently, “the bitthat says I exist”)—and its endless recursion spawns everything else. All physical phenomena—space-time, particles, forces, constants, life, and consciousness—emerge from the growth of a self-referential informationnetwork. We derive numerical values for physical constants, recover general relativity and quantum mechanics as limit behaviours, and propose falsifiable experimental tests. Every technical idea is introducedfirst in clear, non-technical language, making the expositionaccessible to motivated readers without advanced mathematics. Theunifying statement condenses to the symbol U = I ⟲: the universe isinformation that loops back on itself.
