Abstract

Anencephaly is a lethal neural tube defect characterized by the absence of cerebral hemispheres and the cranial vault. We report a case of anencephaly diagnosed during routine antenatal ultrasonography in the third trimester of a 39-year-old multiparous woman presenting with reduced fetal movements. Imaging findings included the absence of the cranial vault and gross polyhydramnios. This case highlights the sonographic features, clinical implications, and importance of prenatal screening in the diagnosis and management of anencephaly.
