Political discourse offers a valuable opportunity for developing linguistic reasoning skills. This study examines how students engage with implicatures in political texts and assesses the impact on their reasoning abilities. Using qualitative design, the study involved third-year English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students and collected data through observations and interviews. The findings indicate that most students recognized implicatures using marking and translation strategies. Those who provided deeper interpretations made connections between text parts and personal experiences. This reflective process enhances their ability to evaluate linguistic ideas and draw meaningful conclusions, underscoring the importance of meaning-making in cultivating reasoning skills.
