Abstract

The cerebral cortex is organized along multiple spatial gradients, yet how local dynamical properties vary across the cortical surface remains unknown. Here, using resting-state magnetoencephalography (MEG) in 204 adults, we report a dorsoventral gradient of rotational dynamics,a linearized signature of oscillatory neural activity, quantified by an index ρ derived from delay-embedded autoregressive models. Ventral cortex exhibited stronger rotational dynamics than dorsal cortex (r = −0.73; Pspin <
