Abstract

Additive manufacturing plays a major role in the latest generation of manufacturing. Selective Laser Melting is the most widely used process in the industry. The study investigates the optimization of process parameter with the Taguchi and Grey relational analysis. The L 9 Taguchi factorial design is utilized with four control variables at three levels. Tensile strength, Hardness and Surface texture have been investigated. When applying Grey relational analysis for multi objective optimization, the optimized parameters are 300 W of laser power, 1000 mm/s of Scan speed, 110 µm of Hatch distance and 30 µm of layer thickness and based on the responses from grades, the level of parameter influence is identified.
