Abstract

The impact of oil and gas activities on the social, economic, and environmental aspects is threatening, regardless of the varying degrees. The adverse environmental impact can be minimized or eliminated in almost all cases by promoting employee Environmental Sustainability Behaviour (ESB) which can help reduce the dangers pose by climate change. The purpose of the study is to ascertain how environmental knowledge affects employee environmental sustainability behavior in downstream oil and gas firms in Ghana. The study adopted quantitative method in executing the study via the use of questionnaire as the main data collection instrument. The study found that employee environmental sustainability behaviour relates positively to environmental knowledge. The findings clearly show that top management support helps to impact the environmental sustainability behavior of employees. It is therefore recommended that Government should consider imposing high penalties on non-adherence of the mandatory policy requirements. Government agencies should be strengthened to enable carry out their mandate effectively.
