Abstract

Idiopathic chondrolysis of the hip is a rare hip condition with a generally unfavorable natural history despite a variety of treatment options. We present a case report of idiopathic chondrolysis of the hip treated successfully with a non-surgical approach including anti-inflammatories, immunosuppressives. biologic medications, and physical therapy. At greater than one year follow-up, the patient had an excellent clinical and radiographic outcome after weaning off rheumatologic medications. At five years of follow up, the patient has had an excellent outcome including pain-free soccer and basketball participation.
