The paper explores the core principles and practices of Community-Based Tourism (CBT), emphasizing its collaborative and participatory nature. It discusses how CBT initiatives offer a range of opportunities for employment, skills development, and income generation, particularly in rural areas of India. Through the examination of successful case studies, the paper demonstrates the positive impacts of CBT on poverty reduction and economic development. The study also highlights the challenges and opportunities in implementing CBT, including cultural sensitivity, environmental conservation, and inclusive policies supported by the Government of India. The research underlines the importance of strategic partnerships between local communities, the government, and the private sector in creating an enabling environment for sustainable CBT initiatives. It further aligns with the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), promoting a more inclusive and equitable tourism landscape. A thorough survey approach was employed to gather responses from various participants to assess their awareness of CBT and its impact on poverty reduction, as well as its role in fostering decent employment and economic development. The findings include a mathematical analysis, providing quantifiable insights into the effectiveness of CBT in addressing socio-economic challenges. The study also delves into the complexities of implementing CBT, offering actionable recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders involved in rural development and sustainable tourism practices in India. This research contributes valuable knowledge to the fields of rural development and tourism, proposing areas for further investigation to enhance the effectiveness and scalability of CBT initiatives.
