Maternal Satisfaction on Delivery Service and its Associated Factors Among Mothers Who Gave Birth in Public Hospitals of Arbaminch Town, Southern Ethiopia,2024

Client satisfaction with delivery services is paramount for preventing maternal mortality and ensuring high-quality care. Despite its importance, this aspect often receives inadequate attention in Ethiopia, including the study area of Arba Minch Town. This study was therefore conducted to assess the level of maternal satisfaction and identify associated factors among mothers who gave birth in public hospitals within Arba Minch Town, Southern Ethiopia, in 2024 An institution-based cross-sectional study was conducted from April 1 to May 30, 2024, involving 406 participants from two public hospitals in Arba Minch Town. Participants were selected using systematic random sampling and interviewed via a structured questionnaire. Data entry was performed using Epi-data 3.1, with subsequent analysis in SPSS version 26. Logistic regression modeling was employed to identify factors significantly associated with maternal satisfaction, with a p-value less than 0.05 considered statistically significant. Of the 406 enrolled participants,93%. responded, with 76.4% (95% CI: 72, 81) expressed satisfaction with the delivery service. Being under the age of 20 (AOR:3.09, 95% CI: 1.32, 7.24), being between the ages of 20–35 (AOR:2.3, 95% CI: 1.17, 4.61), having a parity of one (AOR:2.28, 95% CI:1.01,5.41) and two to three (AOR:2.3,95% CI:1.09,3.71), receiving an antenatal care follow-up (AOR:3.27,95% CI:1.37,7.84), having a planned pregnancy (AOR:3.27,95% CI:1.23,8.72), and experiencing a normal maternal outcome (AOR:3.83,95% CI:1.73,8.47) were positively associated with level of maternal satisfaction. while a substantial proportion of mothers were satisfied with delivery services (76.4%), there remains a clear need for improvement. To enhance satisfaction levels, interventions should focus on strengthening antenatal care follow-up, promoting planned pregnancies, and ensuring positive maternal outcomes, thereby improving overall quality of care.
