Abstract

Light scattering in tissues is limiting the progress of light-based diagnosis and treatment methods. In recent years, there is more interest in non-invasive modification of light intensity distribution in scattering media using ultrasound. Here we demonstrate improvement of fluorescence intensity from a target, hidden behind biomimicking tissue phantoms via ultrasound light waveguiding. We do so in multiple scattering regime and using a widespread conventional linear array ultrasound transducer, opening ultrasound light waveguiding to a wide potential user base.
