Abstract

This study presents a unified framework for detecting, mitigating, and reasoning about critical failures in complex systems. Minimal violations are identified via a sensitivity operator (S) and mapped forward using a propagation operator (P). The concepts of Void, Adjudication, and irreversibility are introduced to formalize irrecoverable states. Iterative, sensitivity-guided interventions optimize policies or system parameters, reducing failure probability while respecting operational limits. The framework is modular, scalable, and bridges operational and causal reasoning, providing a versatile toolset for resilience engineering and systemic risk analysis.
