Abstract

Introduction: Unicornuate uterus is one of the Müllerian abnormalities due to a defect in the fusion of the Mullerian ducts. The occurrence of a pregnancy on this malformation is a high-risk event for the pregnant woman and the fetus. Case presentation: We present the case of a parturient, primigeste primiparous, who had an emergency caesarean section for a breech presentation on a contracted pelvis. Perioperative examination revealed a deviated cylindrical uterus on the left with a rudimentary horn on the right. The abdominal cavity organs were normal. The postoperative period was normal for the couple mother and newborn. Conclusion The diagnosis of unicornuate uterus as well as other uterine malformations should be invoked before any woman at high risk of obstetric complications such as spontaneous abortion, preterm delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, vicious presentation and caesarean section. These high-risk women should benefit from an additional examination for diagnostic accuracy in order to control obstetric risks.
