Abstract

The fast-changing evolution of urban landscapes, driven by technological advancements, sustainability goals, and socio-economic transformations, calls for a fundamental rethinking of how Science and Technology Parks (STPs) are integrated within urban environments. This paper explores the intersection of City 5.0, a new urban model, and STP 5.0, an evolving innovation ecosystem aimed at fostering technological, economic, and social change within cities. City 5.0 represents a departure from the previous smart city model (City 4.0) by prioritizing human-centered governance, sustainability, and AI-augmented decision-making at the core of urban development. As cities transition to this model, the role of STP 5.0 becomes essential, as it moves beyond isolated research hubs to become deeply embedded within urban systems, driving innovation and shaping the future of cities.
