Abstract

Endometrial cancer (EC) is the most common malignancy of the female repro- ductive system, with pulmonary metastasis representing one of its common recurrence patterns. Microwave ablation (MWA), a minimally invasive therapeu- tic technique, has demonstrated significant advantages in the management of pulmonary metastatic lesions. However, MWA is associated with a relatively high incidence of pneumothorax. This study describes a case of tension pneumotho- rax occurring in a patient with pulmonary metastasis from endometrial cancer following MWA. Through the application of prompt and comprehensive man- agement strategies—including closed thoracic drainage, cold compression therapy, and structured respiratory rehabilitation—the patient’s pneumothorax gradually resolved, leading to recovery and successful discharge. This case highlights the critical importance of early recognition and timely intervention for pneumothorax following MWA and provides valuable insights to inform clinical practice.
