Investigating the Effectiveness of Digital Management Tools in Enhancing Employee Productivity in Remote Work Environments

The COVID-19 crisis prompted an abrupt and widespread transition to remote work, necessitating extensive reliance on digital management tools to support communication, task coordination, and workflow management across geographically dispersed teams. While remote work offers the potential for enhanced productivity, challenges such as communication breakdowns, ineffective coordination, and difficulties in establishing work–life boundaries continue to persist. This study examines the effectiveness of online management tools in improving productivity among remote employees, with a particular focus on technology professionals who are generally familiar with digital platforms. A quantitative research approach was employed, surveying 295 individuals who transitioned to remote work during the pandemic. Participants evaluated their productivity levels before and after working remotely and reported their usage of tools such as Slack, Trello, and Microsoft Teams. Statistical analysis, including Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Tests and calculation of effect size, revealed a significant increase in productivity, with a moderate effect size (r ≈ 0.28. The findings highlight the essential role of digital management software project management systems and communication in facilitating coordination, improving communication, and helping employees manage work–life boundaries. The study underscores the growing value of digital tools in optimizing work, though further research is necessary to assess their long-term impact across industries
