Abstract

Background Patient satisfaction has become a component of the health status and level of service outcomes used as part of the measurement of different aspects of patient health services. The study aimed to compare the level of patients’ satisfaction who receive physiotherapy services in private and public hospitals in Jordan. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted among physiotherapy services in private and public hospitals. The aim of the study to To compare the level of patients’ satisfaction who receive physiotherapy services in private and public hospitals in Jordan. The MedRisk Instrument for Measuring Patient Satisfaction with Physical Therapy care took part in the study to assess patient satisfaction and relevant demographic and global satisfaction items were included in Jordan. Two hundred twenty-four patients who received physiotherapy services in private and public hospitals from January, 2019, to January, 2022, were invited to participate in this study. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, v. 20). Results The mean age of 224(74.67%) respondents were 40.86 ± 14.28 years (74.67%) and the majority (77%) were female. Overall MRPS scores, patients were satisfied with physiotherapy services, with an average of 4.5 ± 0.4 of the total score. One item of the communication and respect component showed the highest total score average of 4.58 ± 0.68. Followed by Global items with an average score of 4.53 ± 0.78; followed by convenience component (4.43 ± 0.73) and person-focused care component (4.35 ± 0.77), while quality time component showed the lowest average score of 2.00 ± 1.33. Conclusion The current study measured patient satisfaction who receive physiotherapy services in private and public hospitals in Jordan. The findings showed a high level of patient satisfaction with all MRPS components of physiotherapy services, except for the quality time component, with the lowest average score. Patient satisfaction is the cornerstone to identifying areas for improvement and providing high-quality health care to public and private hospitals.
