Abstract

A metasurface-inspired dual-band THz sensor made of a periodic array of hollow cylindrical silver nanoresonators formed over SiO 2 substrate was studied for the detection of biological cells. The results show a dual-band near-perfect absorption at 4.519 THz and 4.841 THz and the respective large quality factors of 397 and 418. Apart from this, the metamaterial exhibits high sensitivity and robustness – the features that determine potential in biomedical applications.
