Abstract

Objectives Sarcopenia frequently complicates inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), indicating a poor prognosis. Current diagnostic criteria and handgrip strength (HGS) reference values are often not validated for the IBD population. This study aimed to investigate the utility of HGS as a diagnostic tool for sarcopenia in IBD, examining its association with bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) and identifying optimal HGS thresholds for screening.
