Abstract

A two-slotted coil array was developed for preclinical MRI, based on a prior single-slotted de- sign. A corresponding B1 formula was derived to analyze its mutual inductance and performance. Numerical simulations in spherical and cardiac torso phantoms showed significant improvement in unaccelerated B1 and reduced SAR1g compared to a conventional circular coil. Experimental val- idation on a 3 T scanner confirmed the B1 results. The slotted coil also demonstrated superior B1 /􏰈maxS AR1g in the cardiac region. With S E N S E acceleration (R = 1.5), it achieved higher SNRSENSE and lower g-factor. Cardiac images from a healthy volunteer confirmed clinical rele- vance, supporting the slotted array as a promising candidate for high-field parallel cardiac MRI.
