This study investigates the entrepreneurial transformation of La Salle–Ramon Llull University (LaSalle-URL), a private Spanish institution recently accredited by the Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities (ACEEU). Using a qualitative single-case study approach, it analyses the specific challenges encountered and the strategies implemented to align with the Entrepreneurial University (EU) concept. Data were gathered through documentary analysis of accreditation materials and structured interviews with key institutional actors involved in innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer. The analysis is structured around the five ACEEU dimensions: orientation and strategy; people and organisational capacity; drivers and enablers; education, research and third mission; and innovation and impact. Findings underscore that the transformation was driven by formalising institutional commitment through new governance structures and aligning the academic heartland with peripheral innovation units. Key challenges identified include overcoming academic silos, aligning staff incentives with entrepreneurial goals, and bridging the gap between research and commercialisation. This study provides a practical roadmap for policymakers and university leaders, while also contributing to the refinement of frameworks assessing universities’ entrepreneurial orientation.
