The world is running out of the old internet addresses (IPv4). The new system, called IPv6, was created to solve this problem. Many people talk about the theory of IPv6, but this paper focuses on how it actually works in practice. We built simple computer programs to explore IPv6. One program checks and explains what an IPv6 address means. Another program searches for active devices on an IPv6 network. A third program watches the raw data sent over the network to show how IPv6 devices talk to each other. By using these tools, we make the concepts of IPv6 easy to see and understand. This hands on approach helps show the real benefits and challenges of IPv6, proving that practical experience is key to building the next generation of the internet.
