Background Schizophrenia is identified as one of the maximum disabling mental problems, rating some of the top ten causes of incapacity globally. Its miles characterized via disturbances in notion, belief, emotion, and behavior. Schizophrenia imposes tremendous burdens on affected people, their families, and health structures. In Ethiopia, intellectual health offerings continue to be under-resourced, and stigma in the direction of psychiatric disorders persists. The take a look at aimed to assess the prevalence and related elements of schizophrenia within the critical Ethiopia area. Method The study employed a quantitative community-based cross-sectional study design. It included 1254 adult study subjects from the entire region. A multistage sampling approach was used to select the study subjects. Each bivariate (binary logistic regression) and multivariate logistic regression analyses were carried out. Variables with a p-fee below 0.25 in bivariate evaluation have been included inside the multivariate analysis. Statistical significance become set at p < 0.05. Effects were presented as adjusted odds ratios (AOR) with 95% of CI. Result overall prevalence: 6.4% (n = 80; 95% CI: 5.02–7.73) met DSM-5TR standards for schizophrenia, of which 68.7% (55) of schizophrenia instances have been male. Regarding related elements, Suicidal behavior (AOR = 2.47, p = 0.001), family history of mental illness (AOR = 0.36, p = 0.002), and Social assist (AOR = 2.05, p = 0.009) were statistically associated variables. Conclusion This finding suggests that the superiority of schizophrenia is substantially high and alarming. Suicidal conduct, relatives records of mental illness, and social aid are related factors with schizophrenia. An exponential growth in the superiority of schizophrenia wishes unique attention to layout strategies that enhance prevention and treatment access to mental health services.
