Abstract

Aims To explore the mediating effect of self-efficacy and perceived organizational support on nurses’ risk perception and participation intention in “Internet + nursing services”. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted from June to August 2025 using convenience sampling to recruit 624 nurses from five hospitals in Shanxi Province, China. Data were collected using a demographic questionnaire, risk perception outcome assessment scale for nurses in “Internet + nursing services” for the elderly, participation intention of nurses on “Internet + nursing services” scale, the general self-efficacy scale, and the perceived organizational support scale. Descriptive analysis and correlation analysis were performed using SPSS 27.0, and structural equation modeling was constructed with AMOS 24.0 for mediation effect analysis. Results The research results show that the risk perception of nurses in “Internet + nursing services” is negatively correlated with their participation intention. The mediation analysis shows that the mediating effects of nurses’ perceived organizational support and self-efficacy, and their chain mediation effect, accounted for 72.36%, 14.18%, and 13.46% of the total effect, respectively. Conclusion Nurses’ risk perception of “Internet + nursing services” can influence their participation intention in the service through their perceived organizational support and self-efficacy.
