Abstract

Paracardiac bronchogenic cysts, which mimic congenital heart disease, pose diagnostic challenges in pediatric cardiology—a 6.5-month-old infant presented with echocardiographic findings suggestive of VSD and cor triatriatum. Cardiac CT angiography revealed a posterior mediastinal bronchogenic cyst compressing the left atrium, creating imaging features identical to cor triatriatum. Two-stage surgical management resulted in a favorable outcome. This case highlights the definitive diagnostic value of pediatric cardiac CT in distinguishing extracardiac masses from intracardiac anomalies when echocardiographic findings are inconclusive, preventing misdiagnosis and guiding appropriate treatment.
