Abstract

The aim of the study is to conduct Performance based selection of diesel generators using TOPSIS method in order to identify and define the key performance criteria for selecting a diesel generator, apply the TOPSIS method to evaluate and rank a set of diesel generators based on the identified performance criteria, demonstrate the effectiveness of the TOPSIS method in providing a clear, rational, and data driven solution to the diesel generator selection problem and provide a structured and replicable decision-making model that can be used by individuals or organizations to select an optimal diesel generator. Data for this study is obtained from both primary and secondary sources and TOPSIS is applied through the following steps; Constructing Decision Matrix, Normalization, Weight Assignment, Identification of Ideal and Negative-Ideal Solutions, Distance Calculation, Ranking of Suppliers and recommending the preferred suppliers based on suppliers.
