Abstract

[(Pr i O) 2 Ti(mdea)] 1 complex synthesized by the equimolar reaction of Ti(OPr i ) 4 and N - methydiethanolamine (mdea H 2 ) in benzene. Reaction of [(Pr i O) 2 Ti(mdea)] 1 with monofunctional bidentate ligands (L H ) in benzene give titanium (IV) complexes of the types [(Pr i O)Ti(mdea)(L)] and [(mdea)Ti(L) 2 ]. (where L = deprotonated monofunctional bidentate ligands i.e. acetylacetone (acac H ) 2–3 , salicylidene-2-aminopyridine (sap H) 4 – 5 and salicylidene-4-methyl-1-aminobenzene (p-smab H ) 6 – 7 ethanolamine (ea H ) 8–9. The elemental analyses, infrared, NMR ( 1 H, 13 C), and mass spectroscopy have been used to characterise the novel titanium(IV) complexes 1 – 9 .
