Abstract

We present an updated account of the mosquito fauna (Diptera: Culicidae) of San Luis Potosí, Mexico, based on field collections conducted in five localities spanning arid and tropical (Huasteca) regions. A total of 620 adult specimens were collected, representing 21 species, six genera, eight subgenera, four tribes, and two subfamilies (Anophelinae and Culicinae). Six of these species are new state records. An annotated checklist is provided, including distributional data, historical records in Mexico, and information on arboviruses previously associated with each taxon. This contribution expands the known Culicidae fauna of San Luis Potosí by 62 species and underscores the need for further systematic surveys in ecologically diverse yet understudied regions of Mexico. Clinical trial number: not applicable
