Abstract

Eclampsia is considered a serious condition that can be seen during pregnancy. The mortality could be as a result from its complications such as acute kidney injury (AKI), pulmonary edema, and neurovascular events.Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is rarely seen in eclampsia. Here, we report a rare case in a 31 years old pregnant who had an eclampsia in the 38 weeks of pregnancy. A direct magnesium sulfate with labetalol was infused intravenously. After a cesarean delivery, she developed a cyanotic apnea as a result to sudden cardiac asystole. Immediately, we performed cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and the patient intubed in the intensive care for monitoring. Her full blood laboratories with computed scan of head and chest were all normal.A 48-hour later, she was able to breath by herself without the intubation. She was discharged home with oral labetalol to continue controlling the blood pressure.
