Abstract

Uterine leiomyoma is one of the most common benign tumors in women. But intravascular leiomyomatosis is an rare benign smooth muscle cells which can extend from a leiomyoma to the pelvic venous system, often with vena and intracardiac extension. This condition mainly affects premenopausal women, especially those with a history of uterine leiomyomas. Due to its rarity, it is frequently missed, delaying surgical treatment. Developing awareness of the condition among clinicians is important to improve detection and avoid unnecessary delays in treatment. We present an accidentally discovered case of a premenopausal 52-year-old woman with a uterine mass that expanded into the pelvic veins, inferior vena cava, and right atrium. After the complete removal of the mass, the patient underwent full recovery.
