Cervical cancer is a leading cause of mortality among women in Latin America and the Caribbean, with particularly high mortality rates in developing countries, despite being a preventable disease. Limited awareness and restricted access to healthcare services are major factors contributing to delays in diagnosis. We conducted a systematic scope review using the PRISMA methodology, followed by a thematic analysis. Data analysis was structured with the development of a table with eight variables, summarizing the key characteristics of the studies, and three graphics were generated based on the analysis of the article. A total of 71 citations were screened, with 17 articles selected for inclusion in the review. Authors' affiliations are predominantly from developing countries; however, the articles are exclusively published in developed countries. Even though this is an extremely innovative topic with limited available literature relating mHealth and cervical cancer, the implementation of mHealth demonstrated a significant positive impact on adherence to cervical cancer screening, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, emerging as a cost-effective and highly feasible strategy. The review identified text messaging (SMS) and mobile health applications as the primary mHealth tools within the context of cervical cancer screening early diagnosis. The integration with digital devices and the collaboration between government, community, and healthcare providers are essential for the success of mHealth, not only in cervical cancer screening but also in the screening and early diagnosis of other pathologies.
