Abstract

Background The rupture of an epidural catheter is an exceedingly uncommon complication during patient repositioning. Case presentation: This report presents an unprecedented event of an epidural catheter rupture at the level of the.psoas muscle that was managed by conservative measures. The breakage occurred during an urgent catheter withdrawal, before the completion of the procedure, due to a vagal response in a patient enduring labor. Conclusions Conventionally, surgical removal of retained fragments is reserved for symptomatic patients. Patient education and proper follow-up is indicated in asymptomatic cases.
