Assessment of Sexual Function in Male Patients Undergoing Hydrocelectomy and Their Partners: A Prospective Study Based on IIEF an FSFI Scores

This study aimed to assess changes in sexual function in men undergoing hydrocelectomy and their partners. Eighty sexually active men aged 18–75 years who underwent hydrocelectomy, along with their partners, were prospectively evaluated. Sexual function before and 1 month after surgery was assessed using the International Index of Erectile functon(IIEF) for male patients and the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) for their partners. After surgery, male sexual satisfaction showed significant improvements in overall satisfaction and total IIEF scores (p<0.05), while erectile function remained unchanged. A significant increase in penile length attributed to the removal of scrotal swelling was noted (p=0.0001). Significant increases in arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction and total FSFI scores were observed in female partners (p<0.05). Orgasmic function decreased in men and improved in women (p<0.05). Sexual desire remained stable in both groups. Hydrocelectomy has been observed to lead to significant improvements in sexual assessment scores, sexual satisfaction and overall sexual well-being in both patients and their partners. These findings suggest that hydrocelectomy positively affects quality of sexual life in both men and their partners, suggesting that sexual function may be an important consideration when evaluating surgical indications for hydrocele.
