Oral health is a critical but often overlooked component of chronic disease management, particularly for women living with prediabetes, diabetes, gestational diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. These conditions increase the risk for oral health complications such as periodontal disease, yet preventive dental care is underutilized among women with chronic illnesses. This study uses nationally representative data from the 2023 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) to examine whether chronic disease status is associated with lower dental care utilization in women. A cross-sectional analysis was conducted, adjusting for key social determinants such as race, education, and insurance status. Results highlight disparities in care and suggest that women with chronic conditions are significantly less likely to have had a dental visit in the past year. Findings underscore the need for integrated care models and equitable policies that embed oral health in chronic disease prevention strategies for women.
