Abstract

Violence against women is an alarming problem that greatly affects their lives and health. In recent years, researchers have made efforts to address it, resulting in a multitude of data on gender-based violence, including in couples, that reflect the seriousness of the problem. To understand the dynamics of and prevent this type of violence, all elements and agents involved in its production must be studied, particularly those related to the perpetrators. Accordingly, this systematic review, carried out in accordance with the PRISMA statement and PICoS strategy, aims to analyze the scientific literature on aggressors in intimate partner violence. A total of 688 publications are identified and screened according to the inclusion criteria, resulting in a final sample of 102. These publications are then classified according to the ecological framework, analyzed with the support of Tableu, and synthesized with the aim of determining what research has been done on perpetrators and how.
