Objectives: The aim of this study was to analyze the type of content presented in YouTube videos related to dental visits for children with ASD, as well as the quality, usefulness, reliability, and accuracy of this content in helping to plan strategies for their first visit to the dentist. Material and method: The search, selection and evaluation of videos from YouTube were carried out from 24 th April 2025 to 4 th May 2025. It was performed by two evaluators (MPPL and NPG), in case of discrepancies a third evaluator was consulted (FJRL). The following variables were recorded for each selected video: video type, video language, country of origin, duration of the video, number of views, number of likes, number of comments, video source, video category, and the interaction index for each selected video. As well as quality, usefulness, reliability, and accuracy classifications. Benjamini–Hochberg FDR method, Fisher’s exact test, Shapiro–Wilk test and Levene’s test were used. Results: A total of 93 videos were selected. The score on the quality scale (GQS) was significantly higher for recordings classified as interviews with health professionals (n = 10) compared to those focused on personal experiences (p<0.005). Webinars were found to be more useful for dental professionals, while personal testimonials from individuals with ASD were considered less useful by this group. In contrast, for families of children with ASD, personal experiences were more useful, while webinars were perceived as less helpful. Content focused on tips was rated as useful by both groups. Conclusions: YouTube represents a valuable video library where caregivers of children with ASD can easily and freely access a wide range of information to help them prepare for and manage their child’s dental visits. Clinical Relevance: Identifying and promoting high-quality, accurate, and reliable online content may support better preparation for the first dental visits of children with ASD. Dental professionals should consider recommending selected videos and participating in the creation of trustworthy online educational materials.
